Tumkur is constantly under renovation. Banglore Honnavar road(BH Road) was widened and the work is near completion. Tumkur railway station got new look about 2 years back. Trains traveling towards Arasikere stops at tumkur. All the express trains stop at tumkur, both going towards Bangalore and Arasikere. Passengers commuting in train are increasing day by day. One of the reason might be the recent abrupt increase in bus ticket rate. Compared to bus, train is more fuel efficient and environment friendly too.

The new LED displays installed in station and across platform were well appreciated by the commuters. The work was taken up and was in progress till last month. Now, all the displays are functional at the station. Two wide display boards are also been installed. One is near the canteen and the other near waiting place between platform number 2 and 3. From the recent past, all the trains are carring LED displays with bright orange colour. Currently only "Indian railways" is being displayed. Below one is the snap taken at parking lot. Parking lot maintenance is good. In summer they keep the floor moist to avoid dust that accumulates on other vehicles when vehicles passes by. Rain shielding is 99% effective. Recently there were many complaints regarding petrol theft when parked. Hope the issue has been considered seriously and action will be taken.

The only bookstall in Tumkur railway station. This Book stall is present in Tumkur railway station since past 18 years. Commuters here buy newspaper here everyday regularly. There are several periodicals available. Several competitive books too are available.

It is located at platform number 1. Stall will be open from morning 6 to evening 5. A wide front view of railway station. As in the snap, Autos will always be available. To the right of railway station an Auto stand is there.

Overall, Tumkur railway station is really renovating fast since 2009. Railway station can be kept more clean than now with available resource. Lack of interest is the cause and not the large number of passengers. Once Bangalore-Shivmogga track gets completed, Tumkur passengers will get two more trains to commute between Bangalore and Tumkur and is much awaited.
